The Hu Release Trailer For Upcoming Album

When Mongolian folk metal riders The Hu released their first singles on YouTube late last year, they were met with instant viral fame. With ‘Wolf Totem’ and ‘Yuve Yuve Yu’ totaling over twenty-million views now, they’ve found themselves with a significant following even before their first album has been released.

And, to the excitement of fans everywhere, The Hu have announced that their upcoming album, The Gereg, will be available this summer, as well as dates for a European tour and a confirmation that a US/CAN tour will be coming in the fall.

The Hu – The Gereg Trailer

The band combines Mongolian folk instruments and throat singing with a heavy metal energy and drive. They refer to their music as hunnu rock, after the empire of the Huns.

I have to say, in all of the obscure music I’ve found myself listening to over the years, I’ve never encountered a Mongolian folk band like this before, nevertheless one that is as good as this. Make sure to keep your eyes out for a release date (and mark that shit on your calendar!) because The Gereg is sure to be an exceptional record.

The Hu Are:
Gala / Lead Throat Singer and Morin Khuur
Enkush / Lead Morin Khuur and Throat Singer
Jaya / Jaw Harp, Tsuur, Flute, and Throat Singer
Temka / Tovshuur
